Abacus adds another LCC
AirAsia Philippines has signed a deal to go onto the Abacus International global distribution system (GDS), becoming the latest low-cost or hybrid airline to team-up with the travel technology provider.
AirAsia Philippines launched its first flights out of Angeles City, Pampanga in March this year, starting with two domestic operations to Davao and Kalibo.
“As a newcomer to the industry, we hope to be able to get word of our services out to as many potential customers as possible and we feel that Abacus can help us achieve that,” said Ms. Marianne Hontiveros, CEO, AirAsia Philippines.

Abacus International says it currently boasts the largest low-cost carrier (LCC), hybrid and regional portfolio in Asia and foresees further strong growth ahead, especially in the area of LCCs which saw a growth of 27 per cent in 2011 against 2010 in terms of bookings.
Abacus International is also a partner of various LCCs, hybrid and regional airlines including AirAsia Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, AirPhil Express, Sapsan and Cambodia’s Angkor Air which are all which exclusive to Abacus, as well as the recent partner Mihin Lanka.
